Annual Punting Trip

Every year, myself and 4 other girls go punting for Nina's birthday. In the earlier days of Parkside, I was in a friendship group of six girls rather than  twelve. The group was me, Phoebe, Ruby, Marie, Clara and Nina. By mid-late year 9 we became friends with Esme, Ella, Saskia, Isobel, and Anna. Holly came over from Australia and joined the school at the beginning of year 11 and it didn't take her long at all to fit right in to our group and be popular with the guys! I applaud her for that actually because it can't have been easy! So now and it has been for quit a while now, we are just one big group of twelve. Every so often though, it's nice to catch up with your original group just like old times, as much as I love the others!

Aaaaaanyway, I got completely sidetracked there! Nina's birthday is on the 2nd of July and usually we go on that day but this year we went yesterday which was the 5th. We chose to do it yesterday because the weather was forecasted to be scorching hot...and it sure was! As I said up there, there are 5 of us that go every year, not six and this is because Marie has never come with us before because she is always on holiday but this year she came, wahoo!!

Over the years we have learnt that I am the best punter of all of us (their opinion), Nina and Clara aren't bad but Ruby and Phoebe are absolutely awful. Phoebe just zig zags from one side of the river to the other and Ruby just doesn't move it. So every time, I do the majority of the punting. This time, Marie did it first because she said she'd done it before and we wanted to see if she was any good. She was actually really good! Phoebe tried next but failed epically so I punted us to Grantchester where we stopped to hav a swim in the river and get some water. When we got off and attached it to the side, a little puppy came up to us and it was so cute so we were playing with it and you know when puppies bite you and it doesn't hurt? Yeah this puppy had really sharp teeth!!

This is a photo of the bite mark I just took. It looks a lot better today, it bled loads yesterday!

after funzies in the river and covering our skin in clay from the bottom of the river...it's good for your skin apparently...we set off on the punt again and headed back to town to return it as it was around 7pm. By this point we had been punting for about 5 hours! We stopped at Lammas Land to go to the park, the best park ever.

 Phoebe trying to be artsy

As usual, punting this year was a lot of fun and memorable, even more so with Marie there! And it's always nice to split off in to my group of 6 every so often to have a catch up. My muscles ached so badly on Saturday and Sunday but feel a little better today. I hope this punting tradition continues but I have my doubts that it will now that we're all going to be going off to different sixth forms and making new friends. This makes me sad but I'm going to do my best to stay in contact with all of them coz I loves em!

Anyway, I'm going to watch Princess Diaries in bed now because I'm a big kid so good night friend :)

Prom

On Friday 28th, I had my year 11 school prom which was full of smiles, music and beautiful girls and boys!

At 2.30pm, my sister, Beki and I, went over to my friend, Esme's house. Beki was with me because she offered to do mine and some of the girls' hair. The girls who wanted Beki to do her hair were Marie, Nina, Isobel, Saskia and me of course. We were the first ones to arrive at Esme's so Beki did my hair and makeup first. She has bare minerals makeup so I appreciated her letting me use some! She did the base of my makeup first then curled my hair then put the rest of my face on and applied the false lashes.I had been to my step mum, Helen's salon the day before for a haircut and had it dyed a couple of weeks before. On Thursday, one of Helen's employees curled my hair but I thought they were far too bouncy and made my hair  look short so I just asked Beki to do them looser and I must say, she did a mighty fine job! Anyway, the rest of the girls started arriving and Beki was powering through, mind you she was getting pretty stressed by about 4pm as we were supposed to be at Tom's for 5.30. We all started getting in our dresses and encountered the inevitable wardrobe malfunctions such as eyelashes not sticking on, bra straps on show, Ruby's dress ripping at the back etc! But we got through the panic and eventually and managed to stagger over to Tom's in our high heels, clinging to umbrellas! At Tom's, we had sangria and there were lot of group and paired photos being taken. It was ADORABLE when Alvin arrived with a bunch of flowers in his hand and handed them to Esme, his date. I was talking to him later and told him that it was so cute and h said that h forgot to offer to pay for her ticket so thought it would be only right to buy her a bunch of flowers. I nearly died from the adorableness.

These were some of the photos taken at Tom's:

At about 6.45pm, we headed off to school but because the world hates me, as soon as I walked out the door, my dress ripped! luckily it wasn't too noticeable as it was kind of hidden but it put a dampener on the day and we hadn't even arrived at prom yet! The mums all clubbed together and looked through their bags of mum things but none of them had a safety pin or a needle and thread but Saskia's mum told me that the school would have something. So, in a bit of a rubbish mood, I walked with the others to school. Marie and I were having to walk a bit slower than everyone else because we were rather more unfortunate in the shoe department but luckily we saw my mum in the car on the way to school because she was going to take photos on our arrival so we got a cheeky lift with her and she dropped us round the corner from school.

We walked through the back gates and round the corner in to the car park where we were greeted by people saying "wow" and lots of parents taking photos! The boys had a group photo and then us girls had ours taken. One of the teachers was taking more professional photos with a good camera but we haven't seen them yet.

These are similar to the ones she took...

Shortly after this, there were some snazzy arrivals! Katie, Puja, Alex and Ruby T arrived in a stretched hummer and some others arrived in a limo but I'm not sure who it was because I had gone inside when they drove in.

Just found this photo on facebook so I'm guessing these two arrived in the limo. This is Marcus and Jade.

On our way to the hall from the back entrance, we noticed a photo booth and lots of fun props so we decided to have some fun!

Nina, Marie, Clara, Phoebe and me

We then went back in a couple of hours later...

Ella, Phoebe, me, Nina and Marie

When we came out of the photo booth and went in to the hall, I saw Mrs Madan (the best teacher and loveliest lady I have ever met...she's so small and cute!!) and I told her that my dress ripped and she said she'd find a safety pin for me because like I said, she's really lovely!

I'd heard that last year's prom was really badly organised and everyone just stood around and didn't dance at all so I didn't have very high hopes for this one, even though it was organised by people in our year! I was pleasantly surprised it in the end because the band was really good, there was a table at the back of the hall called candy mountain which basically just had loads of jars of different sweets on it and pick n mix bags, there was a candy floss machine in one of the classrooms which also had a memory tree where you'd write a memory on a paper leaf and hang it on a branch of a tree and relaxing space with beanbags and sofas to just chill and chat. The photo booth was a really good idea and was very amusing to look at them all! The only downsides to prom were that the DJ didn't show up, the weather wasn't very nice, my dress ripped and my shoes killed me but the last three aren't anyone's faults so all in all I was very impressed!

Later on, Mrs Madan had to squeeze through everyone to find me on the dance floor where she presented me with a safety pin, yaaaay!  She quickly fixed my dress and I gave her a big hug cause I loves her! I also danced with her later, I can't remember what song it was too but it was funny. She hugged me again and said "if you were free, I'd adopt you!". I said "please do!!!". Mrs Madan can't have kids which makes me sad because she would be the world's greatest mum!!

Here are some photos taken during prom:

believe it or not this was my year 10 and 11 photogaphy class! There was one other person but he goes to Coleridge (another school that Parkside set up). Left to right: me, Ethan, Hettie, George

Cheeky selfie in the toilets! I love this girl, she's my gym buddy! Katie and me :)

This was towards the end of the night as you can probably tell by the fact that all the girls have their shoes off...

Here's a video of Mrs Madan, dancing with the lads! Cheeky!!

Here's another video of Mrs Madan grinding Kester and being grinded by Mr White! haha!

Prom finished at 11pm and I walked back to Esme's house with Esme, Nina and Anna, bear footed which hurt so much but less than it would in my heels! I grabbed my bag from Esme's and walked back to mine, again bear footed, where I quickly got changed and retouched my make up for the after prom party at Kester's house which started at midnight. I wore black disco pants and a blue cropped top, a gold chain, a bowler hat and black wedges. I then cycled back to Esme's after a lecture from my mum about being careful when I come home and not drinking too much etc! At Esme's, were her, Saskia, Isobel and Anna. After they were ready, we cycled to Holly's house although I'm not really sure why we did that because Holly drove to the party with her dad and Ella but I think Saskia had to borrow a dress from her or something. We then cycled to Kester's which was terrifying because none of us had lights and you have to go through big pitch black fields to get there but I turned on the torch on my phone which helped a bit. Iso was cycling in front because she knew the way, then it was me, Saskia, Esme then Anna. Every time we came to a bump on the road, Iso would shout "BUMP!" which I would then repeat followed by Saskia, Esme then Anna said it even though she was the last one! We eventually made it to Kester's where there were two dads standing by the door to check you were on the list but they were the worst bouncers ever because one of them said "You're all stunning, come in!" without even checking the list! We dumped our bags in one of the rooms and got that party started. It was a fun but eventful party, Sean Healy, our legend Englsh teacher was there which was kind of weird but very entertaining. Two people called Josh and Louise got off which is HIDEOUS. The next door neighbours came round at about 2.30am complaining about the noise and saying that they'd call the police if it carried on so Kester cleared everyone out of the garden and made us go inside but to everyone's devastation, the speakers broke at about 3am, an hour before the party finished! They were Phoebe's speakers and she did not look very happy! Shortly after this, Anna and I cycled home and I got back to my house at about 3:45am. The next morning, I felt really horrible, my makeup was still all over my face so loads of spots has appared, my fake eyelashes were stuck to my cheeks and my feet were absolutely killing me. I have just about recovered!

Prom was amazing and a fabulous way to end 5 years at Parkside. Bring on the rest of my life!
